TE AROHA.

- Mr Kenrick received to-day the hands of Mr T. Lawless several blocks of quartz taken from the reef at Honi's new find by Mr Thomas Gavin. The stone shows gold on all sides, and is of the same : character as that brought down by the native prospector. The reef has been slripped over 60 feet towards the south, and gold has been traced in the stone for that distance. Miners who have seen the reef speak highly of it, and all believe a most valuable discovery has been made. The reef has been broken into for a distance of 10 feet, aod the stone still shows gold in the black seams. The reef can be reached by the i track made by Morgan and the natives in about three hours and a half, and the return journey in less than half that time. It is thought that a better track can be found from the back of the High School' reserve. Mr Parchas has received instructions from the Piako County Council to lay off another track from'up ''"' the Wairongamai creek, and it is believed he will find such a" line of road as will ■ shorten the distance considerably.
