Tatjhanga, This day. Mr G. V. Stewart addressed a crowded meeting in the' Temperance. Hall last night, Capt. W. A. Clark in the Chair. Mr Stewart declared himself as an independent supporter of the Hall Government; he would support them as long as they acted rightly, but if he considered they were not doing so .he would not support 1 them. He was opposed to the present Property Tax, and -thought a halfpenny in the £ sufficient; he supported the Income Tax and promised to do his best to get the land for the working men. He also objected to big runholderJ. A hearty vote of confidence was carried by a large majority. A vote of thanks was proposed but was lost.. .

Chbistchubch, This day. N. Dixon, one of the candidates for Ashley, addressed tbe electors on Tuesday, and received a vote of thanks.
