(To theJEditor of the Evening Star.) Sib,—Rf W. S. Greenville's letter in your issue! of Saturday, the Charitable Aid Committee met on Saturday morning, and the members of the Biding recommended tbj> expenditure of £5, but as the mouey cotld not be paid before it was passed by the Finance Committee, Cr Deeble gafe Mr Owens his own private cheque foj the amount. It seems strange, with all tie interest that Mr Greenville says he hjs in the case, he did not know that Mr Owens had received tho money, as plenty tf Mr Owens' friends knew of it. As j»r putting my name to the aubseriptDu list in the County Office, I j
expect Mr Greenville knew that both Mr Dceblc and myself had done so. Mr Greenville says that no doubt in time I shall learn the duties of my office. I hope, if I have the honor of representing the Kauaeranga Riding as long as Mr Greenville had, to know my duties well euough to be able to keep my seat in the Council. The motion passed at the Com* mittee meeting of last Monday was, that Crs Deeble and Bull inquire into the case and recommend the expenditure of £5 (if it was a deserving one). —I am, Ac,
G. W. Bun. [Thisletter must now end the discussion. —J£d. Stab]
