THE ELECTIONS.
Christchtjech, This day. Mr Mason addressed the electors of the Kakauui district at Eakaia last night, and received a vote of confidence.
Dunedin, This <tay. Captain Scott, who was favorably received at Roslyn, announced himself as a thorough freetrader ; he supported the Bible in Schools, and gave Government an independent support. Mr Murray addressed his constituents at Milton last night when a motion was moved that the meeting endorse Mr Murray's action during the past, session; and to this was afterwards added, "That Mr Murray he invited to offer himself for re-election." An amendment was moved thanking him for past services and address, but considering that two local candidates were in the field, he should retire. There were twenty for the amend* ment, so the motion was carried by a large majority.
