THE LATEST MOVE.
(To the Editor of the Evening Star.)
Sib,—After some time spent in manoeuvring, Mr Sheehan has been iuduced to leave Coromandel to the tender mercies of the County Chairman and offer himself for the Thames. He has made a mistake: Coromandel he might have secured, but the Thames he will never represent again. The people have had quite enough of his promises, and he is not a Grey man, or else he would not oppose the Grey or Liberal candidates at present in the field. He need not expect th» Catholic vote, as he is opposed to the teaching of the Church in the matter of education, and all good Catholics will refuse to send him where he may be instrumental in preventing a return to the old system. I shall return to the subject in another letter if you will allow me. As for the County Chairman, he is not sure of Coromandel by a very long chalk, and when I tell the electors there what I know of the man, they may think as I do about him. Tbe game of squaring electoral matters may be thrown away after all.
A Catholic Resident of Block 27.
