Two fresh cases of supposed smallpox have been reported. The doctors visited the houses in Harris street 4 and Cross street, and examined the sufferers, but are uncertain whether the disease is smallpox or chickenpox. The houses are meantime atictly quarantined.

The Minister of Agriculture stated in the Assembly on the fifth inst. that the Government would probably let the experimental farm at Dookie to a number of gentlemen about to establish an Agricultural College. In Committee* in the Assembly the Protection of Animals Bill passed its thirteen clauses with slight modifications.
At the same sitting it was agreed to that no motion for adjournment could be put unless supported by six members. The Vail Yeai'i water supply account shows a surplus of £48,000 ; receipts for the year were over £100,000.
A'skilfully forged Crown Grant, on which £800 was advanced, has been discovered. The matter is undt-r investiga tion.
Two miners were killed at Eaglebank. While iv the cage, descending, the rope broke, and the men were killed instantaneously,
