■ This day. Mr Sheehan is still spoken of for Coro mandel. It is reported that Mr Lusk will be Mr; Barstow's successor. Many members of the late parliament are furious over Ministers endeavoring to get another, f^dut^iern colleague and wholly ignoring Auckland. Mr Collins has been despatched to Whangarei to put the Marsden roll into trim. It is believed Collins will supersede Mr Haselden as registrar. Cadman is likely to announce his candidature for Coromandel. The Grey central committee is likely to review its operations after the end of next week. The date of the elections is still uncertain.
The jury found a verdict of "not guilty " in the cage of Sobritzky, charged with rape on a Maori woman. The judge said the prisouer should never have been comuiitteil. The case against Stehr, for embezzlemeut is now going on.
