Crushing for this company has been going en for some lime at' the Herald battery, and cleaning up and retorting took pJace to day for the return of 2580zs retorted gold. Altogether 120 loads of quartz hare been put through, 62 of which were obtained in shooting down the reef at the 160 feet levol, and the other 58 from the intermediate lerel. At the 160 feet level the reef is, the manager informs me, fully eight feet in thickness, and from the amalgam obtained should average a return oLabout loz to the. load. Tailings from this quartz sold at 14* per ton. At the intermediate level,, the reef, which is over six feet wide in the face, continues to show colors of gold, and excellent mineral are still plentiful in the stone. The stuff in crushing shaped for nearly oozs to the load, and the tailings have been sold for £3 5s 9d per ton, bringing up the total return from this source for the month to £147.

KUEANUI HILL.

Crushing is being continued on the dirt from the face of the hill, but as yet it has. not turned out very good. TJie manager; however, is of opinion that it,will improve as soon as he gets further into the hill.
