American Manufactures in New Zealand.
Trie success which the well-known firm of Messrs Oppenheinjor and Co., of, Auckland, ha* met with in tho introduction of American Manufactures into New Zealand, must be ' very gratifying to the manufacturer* whom* Messrs Oppenheimer and Co. represent, And is also a proof that Messrs Oppenheinier and Co. must have a thorough knowledge of the requirements of this market, and hold oat greater inducements iv prices and terms than what the importing bouees do. Messrs Oppenheinier and Co. are not an importing firm,"but they are Manufacturers' Agents and Indentors. They sell and take orders at Manufacturers' prices, which is something very different from Importers' prices. We notice, for instance, in their advertisement, that they take orders for Barb Fence Wire at £46 per ton, whilst the Importers' price ia Auckland for this article is from £60 to £65 per ton. The Mast, Foos and Co.'s.lron Turbine Wind Engines which Messrs. Oppen* heimer and Co. sell from £18. to £22 each art marvels of cheapness, besides being, perhaps, the best Wind Engine ever introduced into New Zealand. The Cleveland Steam Gauge Co.'a Portable Forges will, we have little doubt, be before long in use in every blaoksmith's and engineer's shop. We could easily name a number of other articles which ■:Mesgri Oppenheimer and Co^ have made their specialities, bub will only add that in Agricul* cultural Implements and Machinery, in Mining and Wood-working Machinery, ia American Buggies and Wagons, and in Carriage Materials and Q-aneral Hardware, Messrs Oppenheimer and Co. represent some of the best and largest Manufacturers.
At the very outset Messrs Oppehheinier and Co- were determined to undertake none but first-class Agencies, nor to recommend any article, except they knew it to be of good and honest quality, and as this has become well* known, we are not at all surprised that the orders given to Messrs Oppenheimer and 06. have been from month to month increasing, and that Messrs Oppenheimer aud Go. now take a front rank in supplying many of ths requirements of the settlers and traders of th^ North Island. .. ,:, ; .;' r.
