Friday. Mr Maxwellj general manager, had an interview with the railway men on strike this morning, but after hearing all the statements of the men, he informed them he was sorry he could not recom mend the Government to make any alteration in the scale of wages.
This day. The Engineers, City Guards, and Yeomanry Cavalry have offered their services to t.he Government in the event of hostilities breaking out with the Maoris.
