(To the Editor of the Evening Star )

Sift,—" Out of evil comes good." It ia gratifying to us outsiders to know that, as the result of this somewhat triangular duel, in which the faculty of the Thames have lately been engaged, one of their number has sprung up, Sphynx like, as a public benefactor; firstly, in giving his experienced opinion gratis, and offering— what really is a great boon to the public— the chance to some of us of having oar children vaccinated with genuine lymph from the calf. lam anxious to be one of this " limited number" to whom'the privilege is held out, and have my bairn vaccinated direct from the heifer; and am only deterred by a rumour that has got about (people will talk, you know) that - the lymph from the calf had its origin on the arm of .a child not a hundred miles from the residence of the philanthropist, and that the " trouble and expense" entailed in procuring the supply consisted in the purchasing of a call tor a note, keeping it on the premises as a bleating advertisement lor some time, and finally disposing of it for a few shillings. X am only waiting to be satisfied on that point, when I shall willingly pay my tea and sixpence and have my youngster vacci« nated. A Paeknt.
