A meeting of Irish Bishops has been held, at which resolutions were passed expressing an opinion that the authors of tbe Irish Land Act are entitled to the gratitude of the tenants, and recommend* ing the latter to utilise fully the benefits provided by tbe measure, and warning them against secret agencies or acts of violence and intimidation. The resolutions further expressed an opinion that it is desirable that an amnesty should be granted to the prisoners now in custody under the Coercion Act.
