Auckland, Yesterday. POLITICAL EU3JOB9 AND GOSSIP. A gentleman of considerable influence informs me that Mr Sheehan is likely to be asked to contest one of the Auckland seats, possibly Tauranga. Neither O'JRorlfe nor Swanson will have a walk over, as in both oases opposition will follow. I sincerely wish both gentlemen may nerer see Wellington in the future as representatives for Auckland constituencies. Young Buckland is already getting funky for North Franklyn. Mr Claude, a settler at Fapatoitbi, is likely, to emerge from his shell to endeavor to .obtain parliamentary honors, whilst one of the sitting members is almost certain to seek re-election, &.ud thus increase the
difficulties of the situation. One of Mr Buekland's expected warmest supporters has quietly given him to clearly understand that ho has gone over to the other side.* There is a dark horse still for Franklyn North, and one who will do credit to the stable when he is trotted out and the running commences.
EUMPUS AT NELSON. A board is now sitting at Nelson to enquire into some matters connected with volunteering there, and to further show the economy of the Government after their " lioyal Commissions," Col. Lyon, of the Waikato Field Force A.C., has been ordered to that city to take part in the deliberations of the court. I presume this is a commencement for the second series of Royal Commissions which must, in the interests of the public service, be started and perpetually continued while Johnny Hall is the virtual Governor of the colony.
