Skuthorpe has writtten to Sir Henry Parkes, the Premier, demanding £6000 for the release of the Leichardt expedition relics. Small-pox Still Prevalent. Small-pox continues to prevail in the city, and. some fresh cases have been reported to the Health Board. At the same time, it is currently reported that several eases exist in private residences, but that secresy is being observed regarding them. Bbisbane, This day. Insurances on the recent fire at Towns* ville include £2625 in the South British Company, half being reinsured in the Standard; £500 in the New Zealand j Company, half reinsured in the South British ; and £500 each with the Colonial and New Zealand Companies. Melbourne, This day. It is understood that £35,000 will be required to pay the liabilities arising out of the later railway accident at Jolimont. The Bank of Victoria offers £500 reward for the discovery of the robber of the missing notes.
