Dr Ruth, but for his untimely death; v?oul<l have added to the admiration of Califomian markmanship, and now comes Lilian P. Smith, a ,10 year old girl, who lives hear Correlitos, Monterey County. She recently gave an exhibition of her skill at Watonsville. and astonished the oldest sportsmen. . The young miss used a 22-calibre 7|-pound Ballard rifle, and handles it with ease. She repeatedly broke balls thrown by hand into the air, hit two ten cent pieces that were thrown up, and did other wonderful shooting. Probably, for her age, she has no equal in the world as a rifle shot. The rapidity and ease with which she shoots is wonderful, and her markinanship is unsurpassed, it is said. ■
