, A MATTEB of interest to School reacbin :— The Board of Education of Auckland have
decided to discontinue the 10 per cent, reduction from salaries from the firßt of the preienfc month. The Chairman said it wag only fair teachers should be placed on the same footing as Civil Servants. There was no reason why the reduction should continue, ■■■".■; when Government had discontinued it. The question was one of ways and means. If reductions were discontinued the difference would be £1900. There, was now a credit 'balance of £2500. If it were found the deficit increased, they could again revise the tcale of salaries. The bulk of salaries paid in Auckland were lower than those in other provincial districts. ._ ' , . ■ " Shall I cut this loin of mutlon saddlewiie, my dear P" said a gentleman to his wife one day.
