Military Funeral.

The funeral of the late Mr Robert Wingate, which we briefly noticed iv our last issue, took place yesterday. The unfortunate deceased had lent his countenance and support for many years, and previous to his death was for several years an efficient member of No. 2 Thames Scottish, and he was also connected actively with the Good Templars, and the Protestapt Alliance Benefit (Society. The funeral procession was largely attended by the general public, volunteers and representatives of the societies above mentioned. The funeral procession was formed under direction .of Captain Schofield. adjutant of the Scottish JBattallion, in Bella street punctually at 3 p.m. At which hour the corpse was received by the funeral escort with presented arms, and the march in slow time to the mournful music of the " Dead march in Saul," commenced in the following order :-— Protestant Alliance F.S. Good Templars. Funeral Escort, with arms reversed, under Sergeant ' Barlow. Thames Scottish. Mixed Band of the Thames Scottish and Naval Brigade, under Bandmaster Hunter. Hearse conveying the corpse, supported by pall-bearers of equal rank with deceased. Chief Mourners. t ".- ; Funeral party of Thames .Scottish, Nos. 1 and 2 Companies. Funeral party of Naval Brigade. ; Officers of Volunteers, viz., Lieutenants Coney, > Burton, and Gordon'; Captains Wildman, Johnstonc, and Schofield ; Major Murray; Commanding 1. Civilian friends of deceased. The procession wended its way through JJailey, Mary, and Pollen streets, and then proceeded up Wilouguby. street, the procession increasing in its route. The band played untiringly during the during the long and tedious marsh. The three last volleys over the grave, given deceased's comrades as their last token of respect were delivered with military precision and stern • solemnity.
