(To the Editor of the Evening Star)

Sib, —I find there is some prejudice existing in regard to the objt-ct of tho risifc of tbe Auckland Bond of Hope Union to tho Thames. This is to be regretted, as there ia not the slightest ground for any reasonable pn judice. Of course the Union hopes to clear expenses, but the object in view is simply to extend the operations of an institution established for the welfare of the young, and one /which _is calculated to accomplish, much 'good, if we mayjudge by the \sork done by the. Jlpited. Kingdom Band /of Hope Unidn during the past 25 years. I may add that I have been sent here with tbe object of making an effort to arrange a conference. of those» interested in the welfare of the young for the consideration of the subject, which will be held as advertised in present issue. The only test X canrejcommendi9 for those friends raito whose mind the prejudice has crept, to pot it on one side and unite in giving the Unipn,ani\ppporiunity;. of accomplish ing its work both at -.the Thames and all parts of Auckland^ aA litlle»consideration of the matter of expense attached to bringing a choir of one hundred from iAucklandi»- rtnd ' them necessary refreshment's ' should remove probability of the Auckland friends taking much money from the Thames.—l am, Ac.,.

W. J. Macdbbmott,

Sec. Auckland Band of Hope Union.
