Whiting some time ago we again suggested the formation of a local railway company to construct the line from Kopu to Tc Aroha, and in order to keep the matter before the people of the Thames we revert to the subject at the pregepf: time. The Government have distinctly 13 pot to \>6 bad for the eon*
atruction. of the line beyond Kopu, and as the .Railway Construction Bill has been thrown out by the Upper House, there is nothing else for it but to take advantage of the District Railways Act. Just now is a most suitable time: tho Patctere Association have issued a prospectus of a company to construct a line from MorrinsvilletoLake Kotorua, and a branch from the Piako to this plase would probably have tho effect of diverting a large amount of the trade from the interior in the direction of the Thames. We trust the local bodies will take up the idea, and at least make an attempt to float a company for the construction of the line from Kopu to the Piako. We shall further discuss the subject at au early date.
