It has transpired that Cherit Pasha has definitely declined the call of the Khedive that he should accept the presidency of the Council of Ministers. He informed His Majesty that he could not consent to the dictation of the military. The crisis in this country continues to increase, and the mutineers in the army are now assumV ing a most menacing attitude.
Calcutta, Sept. 13.
Telegrams are to hand from Afghanistan that the Ameer's forces have arrived within eight miles of Candahar, and are encamped in a strong position. It is further reported that hostilities have already commenced against Ayoub Khan, and that the Ameer's artillery has opened fire on Candahar.
