London, Sept. 12. Telegrams have been received from Berne, announciug that a great landslip has occurred at Elm in the Canton of Glarus, Switzerland, and that nearly the whole town is buried, and over 100 persons have been killed.

News is to hand from fiussia that several severe shocks of earthquake have been experienced at Khoi, a town in the north of that county, causing great destruction to property, and some Joss of life.

Intelligence is to hand from Tunis reporting that the French troops recently despatched to the seaport of Tousa, in consequence of the threatening attitude of the Arabs towards the inhabitants, have now arrived at the town and have occupied it in force. No opposition was met with from the Arabs, who had retired from the neighborhood before the arrival of the troops.

Further telegrams announce that a strong body of insurgents have occupied Teboulba, a small port a few miles south of Tousa, and had taken up a strong position.

British public opinion, as expressed in leading articles in to-day's issues of the Press throughout the country, on the subject of the state of affairs in Egypt, is opposed to the occupation of that country •by European Powers- It has transpired' that communications hare been passed between the French and English Governments in regard to the Egyptian crisis, and that the French Government has intimated its intention to co operate with England in any action that may be taken in ? iew. of the present aspect of affairs.
