Latest Commandol Mining.
There has been great activity in mining, matters on the Tokatea hill daring th» past week. Good work is being done in a I number of new claims and the most satisfactory results follow, showing that the ground is worth working, and will iamost cases repay judiciousexpenditureof capital. The Comstoek specimens were the chief excitement during 1 the week and absorbed public attention from day to day as they were brought into the township and banked. Some large pieces of stone taken to Auckland for shareholders to see werethickly covered on all sides with goldThe Auckland sharemarket was very' dulL at the time the Comstoek gold' was first broken out, no business was doing ii' any shares, and on the day referred to thesaife of Corastocks formed the only market quotations of Coromandel shares changing bands, sales being effected at from 2a 10d •to 4ts. There is also encouraging Jiews from the Tokatea mine, the tunnel i s in between, 1600 and 1700 feet, and the reef is making together in a solid compact body of quartz, with every gold bearing indication.
Eoyal Oak.—Stoping operat?/oris aw being carried on by the tributers with the usual results. The paddocks *r« being filled with good crushing stuff. A meeting of the Directors of the Company will be held this day to consider whether the Company will resume operations' in tho mine. l Queen op the North.—Miain and Stephenson's tribute are getting a good big parcel of stuff ready for the) mill, and occasionally banking a parcel o'/ very rich specimen stone.
Ada Claim, just pegged off on the boundary of the Queen, stands well for the tributers' reef. A short drive is being commenced to cut the lode which throws the specimens near the surface, and while commencing this work 'jome good stone has already been picJred out"of the surface.
Comstock G.M. op.«-Since last report the prospects of this'! mine have become very bright. During fche past week 1901bs of very rich specimens have been taken from the stopes with more showing in the face. The quality of stuff in the paddockifi reckoned to be very good.
