OUR MINES.
MOANATAIARI
This company will clean up next Friday. The manager reports for last week as follows : —" Morning Star section: Three drives are being pushed ahead here, two 6a promising small leaders in the direction of main slide, and one from it. The country is congenial for gold, and comparatively easy to work. 132 ft. level No 3 stopes ; Only two men are working here at present, cleaning out and repairing 70ft drive in order to prove the stopes above ifc. No. 3 stopes at tunnel level are without any change to notice. No. 3 footwall leader, tunnel level : In driving west some stone showing strong blotches of gold has been obtained since my last, better than any previously seen in this drive; this shows that the footwall part of leader is gold bearing. 80 feet level, south east of crosscut and east of shaft: The leader is rather smaller in the face ot the drive, but it shows gold, and about 301bs of fair picked ytone have been obtained from here this week. The leader on opposite side of crosscut has been very disordered for some days past. 150 feet level: A small trial parcel is being crushed 'from No. 1 reef, uorth-eaatof crosscut. At this point there is a kindly aud compact leader, averaging fifteen inches iv thickness; the dri»e oil this should be extended to main slide, which, provided it keeps its regular course, will be about forty feet from the crosscut. The block lengthens upwards, and is intact from the 150 feet to 80 feet level. It is one of the best localities of the mine to expect gold, but whether it is there or not remains to be proved. A trial parcel is also being put through from the All Nations leader, but no thing can yet be said as to its real worth. This leader is about ten inches wide, and improving in appearauce.—J. Gr.
