(Pee Pbess Association.) '• Wellington, This day. Last Night's Sitting. LICENSING- BILL. ' ; The House proceeded to consider the Legislative Council's amendments in the Licensing Bill. Mr Dick said he disagreed with those in clauses 46, 68, and 229. Sir W. Fox objected to those in clauses 5 aud 7.—After considerable discussion, the, amendment in all the clauses prior to clause 29, on the motion for agreeing to the amendment in that clause, striking out New Zealand license, was carried by 34 to 29.—0n clause 31, which the Council had struck out, the question of New Zealand wine license* again rose. Mr Dick moved that tb.4 Council's amendment be agreed to, and; after discussion this was lost, oo a division. This exactly reversed the previous decision.—The House then rose for half'an hour. ■ The Licensing Bill was continued after the usual half hour's adjournment, and the first decision was rescinded, and it-was determined to insist on the New Zealand wine license being retained.* Most of the other amendments made by the Council were accepted, and Fox, Dick, Wakefield, and Eussell were appointed a committee to draw up the reasons lor disagreeing with the others. The Chatham Islands Bill was read a third time and passed. The Tirnaru Harbor Board Act Amendment Bill, the Dogs' .Registration Bill, and the Babbit Nuisance Bill were read « second time. The House rose at 12.30.

Wellington, This day. This Day's Sitting. The House met at 11 a.m. On the motion of Mr Hall, the Weatland and Nelson Coalfields Administration Amendment Sill was introduced and read a first time. Mr Dick moved the third reading of the Borough of Hamilton Bill, which was opposed by Weston, but after some discussion it was passed. On the motion for the committal of the Dogs Registration Amendment Act Bill, Seymour suggested that shepherd dogs, to the number of two in each case, should exempted. The Bill was ordered to be committed presently. The Mdsterton .and Grey town Lands Management Act, 1871, Amendment Bill passed through Committee. The Prisons Act, 1873, Amendment Bill was considered in Committee. Hutchinson moved an additional clause affirming the principle of preventiug skilled labor being taught in prisons to detriment of free labor/ 2 p.m. Hutchinson's clause was rejected on the voices, and the bill reported with amendment, f Dogs .Registration Act Amendment Bill was considered in Committee. Mr Shanks moved, that County Councils and Highway Boards should' be empowered to make such reduction in the fee as they might think fit, hithe case of dogs used for the management of live j stock and the destruction of rabbits; The House divided on Shanks' motion—rayes 33, noes,32; On the motion that the clause as amended pass the House divided—ayes, 33; noes, 24. Collins moved a clause affirming the principal.of exempting two sheepdogs, the property of one person, but it was negatived on the voices. Hutchison moved the repeal of clause 3, allowing tbe r Gorernor to exempt certain districts from the operation of' the 1 act. Negatived on the voices. The bill was reported with amendments. ,: The Masterton and Greytown: Land Management Bill, the Prisons Act Amendment Bill, and Dogs '.Registration Bill, were read a third time and passed. The House adjourned at 1.25 p.m.
