Thames District Belt.

The 2j4th .quarterly competition for the above coveted prize took' place on Saturday,, and owing to the short ranges and the new weapons just issued, there'was an unusual number of entries, namely, 47, of which number 24 were from the Scottish Battalion, 7 from the Engineers, 15 from the Naval Brigade, and one from th,e Native Company, but, strange to say, the, Hangers, or " Ladies' own,'.' were not represented. The day throughout was not all that could be desired for good shooting, but on the whole some very > good scores, as will be seen from the list of scores appended, were made. On this occasion the Scottish Battalion were the victors, finding 'a champion in lCorpl: BrownJee, an excellent shot and an equally good Volunteer, his score being 80 out of <a possible 105, which is!'very creditable, and will bear comparison'with other competitions. The second place on this occasion is coveted by Vol Gv Price, of the Scottish, and- Band Serjeant Gill,,' of the Engineers, both with the splendid score' of 79, but as it has to be determined by the Belt Committee who shall take second place,< we ,shall pass on to the fourth place, which was secured by liieut. Brownlow with a total of' 77. ' The fifth prize fell to the lot of Vol P. Weir, also with a similar score of 77. The ranges were—2oo, 300, and 400 yards; "seven 1 shots at each rauge.
