In the Council yesterday G. Buckley moved " That the Council should adjourn to Tuesday week," but after a long argument the motion was rejected by 17 to 11. When the numbers were announced Mr Reynolds j?ave notice to more " That the Council adjourn to Wednesday week;" then .Robinson, Nurse, Holmes, and Reynolds gave notice to ask for leave of absence, all on private affairs; whereupon Col. Brett gave notice to move " JMo members shall leave for the rest' of the session." The stonewalling on the Representation Bill Schedule was continued last night, and the House is still sitting. Mr Shaw, R.M., gave judgment in the amuggled tobacco case, re Barnard, Sorwell, and Walter Lee. He gave Barnard the benefu of a doubt, and discharged him; the case against Sorwell was withdrawn by leave of the Court; and Walter Lee, who had pleaded guiity, was fined £100 with the alternative of 6 months imprisonment. A smart shock of earthquake, accompanied by a loud rumbling noise occurred here this morning at twenty-five minutes past two.
