Great excitement prevails in commercial circles in connection with the examination of S. Clayton, the bankrupt, by his trustees, Messrs Leary and Conyers. The creditors were admitted to the examination, and the proceedings have been reported, although without the trustees' consent. Clayton's statement makes extraordinary allegations affecting (Juthrie, of Guthrie and Larnach, and alleges most intimate business relatious between two transactions of a nature the reverse of reputable.
A five roomed unoccupied house in Forth street, belonging to Alex. Cairns was burned down last night. It was insured, but the amount is not ascertainable.
