The Liberty case after an unavailing attempt at a compromise, ended in the Bench fining Hossack, the principal culprit £5, and Blackett and Sanson £3 each, and warning each man to pay £4 4s 6d towards the cost of the type destroyed and damage done. The Bench added that had it not been for the able defence made by Mr Stringer, the counsel for the accused, the defendants would in all probability have been committed for trial.
