PARLIAMENTARY GOSSIP.
[By Telegbaph.]
(fhom our special cokeespondent.)
Wellington, This day. In consequence of Pyke's appeal on behalf of the telegraph operators being compelled to work on Sundays in various small offices throughout the colony, the result has heeu most satisfactory. On enquiry the Postmaster-General finds that in quite one hundred smaller telegraph offices the number of Sunday messages is so small that the offices can well be closed without any public inconvenience. It is stated that a list of offices will be notified at once of the arrangements.
Messrs Richardson, Beetham, and Bunny have been appointed by His Excellency the Governor Commissioners to enquiry into the causes which led to the train running off' the line some days since near Kaitoke. The Commission sits on Wednesday next to take evidence.
