(To the Editor of the Evening Stab.)
Sib,—Mr Speight's defence for taking part in the Land League meeting, is ou a par with his explanation for the grossly insulting remarks he made to Mr J. C. Brown, M.H.R., and is simply adding insult to injury. If Mr Speight imagines to,throw dust in the.eyes of his friends by calling the meeting he attended by a false name, lie will find himself greatly deceived, and if he wants to put the working classes of New Zealand in the way of obtaining land by advising them to copy Land Leaguers, he is a fool for his trouble. I hope a better example will be laid down than that set by the promoters and supporters of the Irish Land League in Wellington, when Mr Speight's colleague, Mr Lundon, expressed regret that more landlords hadn't beeu isliot.—l ani, &c,
O-BSEJiVEE.
