Latest Coromandel Mining.
Tbue Blue.—Wells and party had a crushing at the Corby Battery of 18 tons, taken from various leaders, of which Murphy's Hill is a regular network. The result was 15ozs of gold.
Cosistock. —Good picked stone has been broken out of the stopes, and ft lot of splendid crushing dirt is accumulating in the paddock.
Tiki Gold Mining Company.—At last something is to be done on this Company's ground, offers having been made by parties of miners to work it and find payable gold within a certain number of days on receiving a specified consideration from the.Company.
Hobbs. —A new mine manager has been appointed, and work will'be prosecuted with more vigour than ever.
Maop,i Win.—The reef is improving every foot driven. It is now eight or nine inches wide, and carries every goldbearing indication
Blackmore's. —This mine has been keeping up its character, and has during the week turned out splendid crushing stuff. The manager has reported several large hauls of specimens aud picked stone. On Saturday 15Olbs was announced, and on Monday night lOOlbs specimens and 4001bs picked stone.
The battery is formally announced to start on Saturday next, but it is not yet finally settled who shall first use the mill.
Matawai.— A man is engaged trenchin? on Blackmore's boundary, and getting colours of gold on the surface. They hare discovered the outcrop of a reef on the Matawai boundary, the reef evidently bearing direct from -BJackmore's ground. The contractors are driving to cut Barrett's reef, whjch is traced on to the Matawai ground. The contractors employed by the joint companies have cut a large reef giving good prospects. Union.—On the drive from the road level following what is regarded as Tiernan's lode, gold was struck in the leader abort thirty feet from the mouth of the drive. The reel is two feet thick. Thirty pounds of stone of a class exactly similar in character to Tiernan's being taken out, and probably the quality will be as good as the lode gets worked.
Perseverance. —Have commenced the rise, and are breaking down fair crushing stuff.
Stodast's. —Various contracts are in full swing. Peide of Tiki are driving ahead to cut another leader.
Golden Belt.—A contract has been let to cut the specimen leader.
Bismahck —Stoping is going on as usual and some fair crushing dirt is being got. The wiDze from the intermediate level is still in tight country, but the reef maintains its size, and continues to yield paying stuff". The cleaning up at the battery on Tuesday resulted ia a yield of 51ozs.
Union Jack (Tiki). —The trial crushing at the Corby battery gave a return of 12dwts to the ton, which is considered a sufficiently payable yield to warrant the / further development of the mine.
Barratt's. —Steady work, as usual, is to be recorded, and there is no doubt from past prospects and the excellent position of this mine that it will jet cause a stir.
Keserye.—The workings are being pushed on with fair indications. :
Hokitika.--This ground is being well well prospected by the manager, who it very confident of getting something good for the shareholders. Adjoining .ground has been taken up this week. The Tiki battery is to be under the management of Mr Stranghan, late mina* ger of the Union Beach mine. The oontract for a section of tramway for the Home Kule mine was le» for £40.
It is uncertain whether Tiebnan's, will,, after all be the first to crush at the battery.' They are farthest away from the mill, and would have gome difficulty in transportiof*"* their quartz. - A parcel of stuff from the United, crushed at the Corby battery, yielded . oozs.
Melisop's Tkibute (Corby) crushed one toa for the handsome return of lOozs lOdwts—o. Mail.
