OUR MINES.

MOANATAIAEI

The manager reports as follows:— 11132 feet level: The stopes on No 3 branch leaders above this level are producing the same quantity of crushing stuff as for some weeks past, but at present it is of lower grade. A few goldbearing stones have come to hand this week, and the leaders indicate an improvement. Six men are employed her<? and more could not work to advantage. Tunnel level, No. 3 stopes: The leader here is verj small, but of a promising character. There are some gold-bearing stringers in the slope, though I fear not rich enough to pay, beingincoDvenieni to work. We have only two men here, the other two being put to drive west from tunnel level on footwall portion of No. 3 reef. A few colors of gold were seen at this point before driving was suspended. The drive should be extended to a slide which is only a sn'oft distance ahead. Two men are rising on leader a few feet behind the face of above drive, and some of the stone has a likely appearance for gold. 80 feet level, south-west from cross-cut and east from shaft: Four men are stoping here on a kindly looking leader 2 inches thick. This has been previously sloped with profit from where the well known patch made down to 150 feet level, and for some considerable distance south-west of crosscut. There is yet an extensive block of i/round throue>h which this leader passes to be worked if we meet with the same encouragement at and above 80 feet level as we experienced below. Mojnina; Star section : Four men have been taken from the stopes and are now driving a crosscut from the 50ft level, by this evening 50 feet wi)l have been driven in a northerly direction. Some nice lodging leaders and a great number of promising stringers have been intersected, some of which showed a little gold. I think most of these veins will run into each other in their course to main slide, and, if so. we shall get a great deal of good cpshing stuff from this quarter. —J. G. Vivian." GOLD EETURNS. Albubnia.—Downie and party banked ■lOozs 9dwts gold today, the yield of a crushing of 18 loads of quartz at the company's battery.—Sawyer and party have put through 80 or 90 pounds of picked stone and specimens for the return of 28ozs lldwts of gold.
