It is said that if the House gets through its business in time.-ariTl the new Eepresentfttion Bill is not passed, Parliament will be dissolved, and the elections take place before the end of the year. The following schedule to the EepreBcntntiou Bill showa the number of * Auckland electorates, together with tbe .approximate male population in each, exclusive of Maoris, Chinese, and persons on shipboard :— ' Bay of Islands' 4234 Marsden ... 4932 ,' Eodney ... ... ... 5054 Waimata 4790 Franklyn North 4810 Franklyn South ... ... 5485 Coromandel ... ... 5356 Thames 5503 Auckland North... ... 5479 . Waipa ... 4743 " Tauranga.'.' 4863 Gisborne ... ... ... 4680 Total for Auckland, but including population of part of Gisbarne electoral district (640) and persons in - Hawke's Bay Provincial District, 98,955.
The bill itself is a short measure of seven clauses, providing for 91 electorates and 91 European members. The new rolls are to be ready within thirty days of the passing of tbe Act.
