London, August 10, The Irish Land Bill.

The Irish Land Bill was again before the House of Commons to day when further amendments by the House of Lords were rejected. It is expected that the Lords will be obstinate in insisting upon their amendments.

At a meeting of the Royal Society last night Mr Cosmo Newberry read a paper on the subject of Dixon's Gas patent. The speaker ridiculed the patentees specifications, and was confirmed in his opinion by others who addressed the meeting,-and finally a motion was carried unanimously declaring that kerosene is the sole illuminating ingredient of Dixon's gas.
