A Tery necessary road has at length been obtained through the Komata block, and is now nnder construction. When it is finished, there will be a summer coach road from the Thames through to Te; Aroha, Hamilton, and Whatawhata to Raglan. It is of importance to complete tha drainage of Te Aroha block, and to continue to improre coastal main line of road from Tauranga to Opotiki and East Coast; also to follow qp the construction of the important line from Cambridge to Kotorua, which when available for wheeled traffic, will complete a coach road from Wellington to Auckland. Another important section, between Cambridge and Taupo, which will form part of a future main line from Waikato to Hawke's Bay, should not be lost sight of. Sums varying in amount will be asked for these works. SUPPLY. After delivering the Public Work* Statement, the discussion on Mr Murray's amendment on going into supply was resumed after further debate. The motion for going into supply was carried by 40 to 36, and the auieudineol was negatived.

In Supply the consideration of class 2 was resumed, on the Government Statis* tics Department, £7109. A motion to reduce the RegistrarGeneral's salary from £550 to £400 was negatived, and the vote was passed. Geological and Meteorological Depart* ment, £3403.

Mr Levistam characterised this as the humbug department, and moved the reduction of the vote by 38800, so ai to get rid of all but the weather, reporter, but it was negatived by 30 to 17.

A further amendment, to strike out the Assistant Geologist's salary, was negatived on the voices, and the vote passed. - Agent General's Department, £3315, passed after considerable dissuasion. — Charitable Aid, £39,7267 paMed,|and Lunatic Asylums, £35,289, passed. Progress was reported, and the Hovse rose at 1.14. _ ;
