Almost solid gold may be said to be getting in the Royal Oak, about nine ounces having been got out of the reef requiring no crushing, but simply has to be banked.
Two hundred pounds of picked stone, crushed at the Bismarck battery, yielded 52ounces, thus making a total of 62 ounces gold.
Hornibrook's tribute and Kilso Wilson's No. 4 tribute crushed 19 tons general stuff taken out of the old stopes for the yield of 34| ounces gold, the total yield from the tributers' crushing being 96ozs gold! Blackmoee's.—ln the low level the flat reef is fire feet wide. One and a half hundredweight of picked stone has been broken out of the fljor of this level. A new reef two feet wide has been cuf'irfthe drive now being put in by the contractors 11 and excellent prospects have been obtained on crushing the stone.
Home Etjle.—The mine manager reports :—"On Saturday last I connected the low level drive with the winze from the intermediate level. Sinse then the greater part of the time has;; been occupied in timbering the tunnel to make the ground secure before commencing'to stope out from the low level, and also lining the winze to enable me to shoot the quartz from the intermediate lerel to r the low level. I will have the timbering completed in a day or two, and then I will commence opening from the low leVel; at once, and be in a fair way of getting out a quantity of quartz. I have commenced sloping from the intermediate level, and broke down good stone yesterday.—John Kibby."
Tiernan's have driven a level above the main tunnel, and in crosscutting west, large stones have been taken out: with coarse gold showing. To the eastward, in the crosscut into the hill, the reef is compact, and good picked stone has been got-
Pebsevebance.—The usual work is being carried on, and a good class of stone is being taken out. Owing to its peculiar character gold is not easily seen in the stone, but very fine prospects are always obtainable by crushing a portion. Tiki Star.—Some good atone wasbroken down on Thursday in the intermediate level, and as the drive approaches the old shot of gold the indications are steadily improving.—C. Mail. ' ■
