The Irish Land Bill was under consideration in committee in the House of Lords last night and iv the course of the sitting clauses 1 to 6 were passed, but only after several important amendments had been made by the House against the wish, and despite the opposition of the Government.
The Times publishes a paragraph Stating that General Valentine Baker has been appointed to the command of the Turkish troops in Tripoli.
Pakis, August 4.
Gambetta, President of the Chamber of Deputies, who is now on a visit to Tours t addressed a large assemblage in that town to-day, and in the course of his speech be alluded to the action of the Senate in rejecting his Bill for the adoption of scrulin de liste, and strongly advocated the revision of the Senate's Constitution.
