OUR MINES.
NEW NORTH DEVON.
The lode at the intermediate level continues to carry good mineral indications, and colors of gold are seen when breaking down sufficient to warrant the opinion that the lode will prove payable. Gold was also seen yesterday in the quartz takeu out of the floor of the level while squaring it preparatory to laying down rails. As the indications met with at the 160 fees level while the company were carrying on operations there were very promising the fact of gold being found in the floor,,of the intermediate level should warrant operations being started at the 160 ft.level. The leader in the stopes east of the winze at the intermediate level is a fine body of stono from three to four feet in thickness, and as the stope is now well opened up, a large supply of stone can be got fjjftU here. Crushing was started at the Herald on Wednesday, and the manager expects to be able to keep 10-head of stamps going for some time. An extraordinary meeting of the shareholders will be held at the end of the present month and among other business the advisability of amalgamating with the Alburuia G.M.Co. will be considered.
