Correspondence.

Them columns are open to all correspondence ot public interest, but we do not hold ourselves resnonsible for the opinions of writers. Correspondence must in all sases be authenticated by the real name and address ot the writer—not necessarily for publication, but as a guarantee of good faith.

(To the Editor of the Evening Star )

Sib, —I was pleased to read the letter of Mr Conroy, which appeared in the Evening Star of Tuesday. The condition of Davy street is indeed disgraceful, as any one can see on making a personal observation. The rain which fell this morning has made the street almost as bad as it was a few days after the flood. I perceive that the last letter haa had no effect, and I suppose we shall have to quietly submit to this shelving process. 1 do not so much attach blame and negligence to he Foreman of Works, who is doing his utmost to clear the streets, but the blame certainly lies on the shoulders of the Council, who should have some little thought for the wants of others —especially after the thoroughfares leading to their places of business have been cleared. However, if something be not done soon, I and my fellow-residents in Davy street will refuse to pay one cent for rates to the Borough when the Rate Collector comes rouud. —I am, &c,

Citizen.
