This day,

A disastrous fire occurred at 4.30 this morning at.the residence of Peter Bell, draper, at St. John's Hill, the dwelling being burned to the ground. A portion of the furniture was saved, but the inmates escaped with much difficulty. The cause is unknown. The building was insured in the Hew Zealand Office for £400; furniture uninsured ; estimated loss, £1000.

JNo cine has yet been obtained to the robbery from the Stormbird. Eobberies of various kinds are greatly on the increase here.
