WELLINGTON.

This day. A collision occurred at the heads last night between Captain Williams' barque Australind, and the brig Neptune, which were beating up the passage. The Australind was on the port tack, and the Neptene on the starboard, and on nearing one another the wind baffled, both vessels went in stays, but there was not sufficient time to avoid a collision. The bow of the Neptune struck the bow of the Australind, The latter had part of her head gear and stern carried away. The whole of the head gear, 4 or 5 stanchions, and the bowsj>rit of the Neptune was carried away. No other damage being done. The Capt. of the Australind states the collision was purely accidental, and would have been avoided had the wind not baffled.
