Telegrams are to hand from Tunis, announcing tfo'aThostilities have occurred at Sfax, a seaport town on the Tunis Coast, between a detachment of the French troops and the Arab tribes resident there. The troops had been despatched to quell a rising of tribes which recently broke out in the Sfax district. On their landing at the port they were fired upon by the Arabs who had gathered in force to oppose their debarkation. The troops returned the fire, which was kept up for some time, but the Arabs were finally driven back, several on both sides being wounded, including the French. Consul, who was landing with

Serious eviction riots have occurred at Mitchelstown, in County Cork, Ireland, the scene of serious disturbances on the 28th May last. A large number of people assembled to-day to oppose the process servers, who were being supported by the police. The latter were attacked, and in return fired upon the mob, thirty of whom were wounded.
