Sib,—lf Mr Thomas Shaw's statement as appeared in the Advertiser be true, re the County Council draining Mr John Brown's property, no language could be too strong to denounce the above action ot the County authorities. I think the ratepayers of this district should call a pnblic meeting to enquire into the action of the County Council, -md try and find, out if that body has been .spending the public money on- behalf plf the,ir friends and supporters, instead of spending it (the public funds) for the. benefit of County works. If the County authorities are capable of so spending the>public money, as ststcd by Mr Shaw and others, the County money is being -spent wholly illegally, in the highest improperly, ' and in a manner entirely indefensible on the part of the County Council.--1 am, Sec, - A Ratepateb.
