LEPROSY
(To the Editor of the Evening Star.)
Sib, —The report of the two medical men upon the Chinese residents, for which I presume the Board of Health (whoever' that body is) will have to pay, appears to me to be a very incomplete and; unsatisfactory document or documents, for it appears there are two of them. If any ordinary contractor undertook a, work, and left it in the unfinished state their report? represent, they certainly would, or should not receive payment foe the same. Bat anent the Board of Health, hare, they authorised such a report ? I was speaking to a member of the Borough Council and he informed me he had no knowledge of the matter, and the Borough Oouncilwere the Board of Health for the Thames. Now, sir, if such is the fact, who is responsible? It seems an unwarranted authority and interference with peaceable .residents*; a species of petty tyranny. ; Why should a, policeman accompany such examiners? Has the Mayor been exercising his prerogative or is the Town Clerk responsible? That official seems frightened at? nothing, not even the dignity of a Hollis can scare him. I ask this information through you sir as the proper channel toj enlighten the public—-1 am, &c- 'i.
South Waed.
