A heavy gale from the south-west was felt on Saturday night, accompanied by hail and snow, though no damage is recorded.
A smart shock of earthquake occurred shortly before five o'clock on Sunday morning. The only damage reported is to a small brick building at Eaiapoi, which has to be rebuilt.
