AUCKLAND.

Sunday. The City of Sydney arrived at 3 p.m. to-day.

She left San Francisco on June 4, arrived at Honolulu on June 12, and sailed the same day, landing passengers and mails only at Honolulu. No communication was had with the shore.

Ireland. The Daily News says Ireland is getting daily nearer insurrection.

There have been serious collisions between soldiers and the people. The Conservative hatred of Ireland is so great that they openly express a wish for war, so that the Irish may be bayonetted into submission.

Mr Dempsey, farmer, who took up some land after the tenant had been evicted, was killed from behind a hedge in Galway. Mr John Bright has advocated wholesale emigration of the Irish to the United States. He thinks if free passages were offered, probably all, certainly half, the population would emigrate.

There has been a riot at Bodyke, County Clare, eighty policemen assisting to evict a tenant. They were conveyed in waggons there. The bees were let loose, who attacked the horses, until the beasts became unmanageable, one being killed. At a house situated on the hill the police were attacked by armed men, who, from coverts of fences, poured a galling fire. The police deployed in skirmishing order, and returned the fire, killing one and wouading several. The house was captured, and several arrests were made. On returning the police were again tired on.
