(To the Editor of the Evening Star.)

Sib, —The paragraph in your issue of the 22nd inst. in reference to Hearn and party, tributers, is calculated to mislead the public. It is therein stated that Hearn and party, tributers, stopped Mr Greenville from proceeding with the (socalled) ladder way, whereas it is a staircase which the tributers object to. Then, it is stated that the Mining Inspector has been appealed to. Yes, he was appealed to, long before Hearn's tribute party objected to the so-called ladder way. I think the owner of the Hape Greek mine and the Inspector understand one another pretty well. The staircase which Mr Greenville wanted to put in to block up the tributers' whim shaft with was neither round, oral, nor square';* consequently, it wanted a little more of the master's finish, which is being done by the tributers without blocking up their whim shaft.—l am, &c,

A Tributes.
