This day. Auckland Public Library Opened
on Sunday.
The City Council, by five to four' resolved to open the free public library on Sundays, between the hours of two and six in the afternoon, and seven and ten .at.afternoon.-.'' ■••-•.-.•- ■ - -..-—■«.■-;, -vw».«.-.-v«
Hussell and Devore, the City solicitors, have resigned in consequence of a resolution of the Legal Committee of the Council that they could not consistently act for. Council and the Harbor Board.
The barque Coronilla arrived to-day,. 122 dayg from London; also, the Loch Doon,. which left on 14th March. An apprentice named John Whyles, sixteen years old, was washed overboard from the Loch Doon and drowned.
The Auckland footballers at a meeting resolved to adopt the suggestions of the Wellington Club for the formation of an intercolonial team. A committee was appointed to carry out the proposals.
