OUR MINES.

CALEDONIAN. The mine manager's weekly report is as follows:—" There has been 11 feet driven south-west between No. 1 and No. 2 reefs this past week, at No. 1 level, but no reef has been broken down. I have the No. 2 reef on the left at the bottom and No. 1 reef on the right in the roof of the drive. I am cleaning out one of Captain Kichards' old crosscuts at the No. 1 level, about 100 feet nearer the old workings than our present work, and about the junction of Nos. 1, 2, and 3 reefs. This is about 70 feet north-east of the Otago old run of gold found in the old days. I shall be better able to give my opinion about this place when cleaned out. Our present drive is coming towards this crosscut, and when connected will ventilate the whole reefs and save about 150 feet of trucking. The rise, No. 3 level, has been going through hard country, and the leader is split up into a lot of small stringers, which {oog very poor; no gold has been teen. I shall go on a few days longer.-a-T; & Hicgs." OLD GOLDEN CALF. [ . Crushing is proceeding for this mine at the Queeu of Beauty mill with 15 bead

of stampers. At the mine there is but little frenh to report. Gold is obtained frequently in the No. 2 stopes. At No. 3 the lode is much split up. NEW GOLDEN CROWN. The crushing is not shaping quite so well as hitherto, owing in some measure to the fact that the recent wet weather has prevented the conduct of operations in the surface levels Raflier better progress is being made in the lower level driving contract, and the mine on the whole has a. healthjt:appearance. NEW NORTH DEVON. Connection was established yesterday between the 70 feet level winze and the. 160 feet level. The intermediate levels will be opened, and stoping started with as little delay as possible. KURANUI HILL. At. the company's battery, the stamps are still going on company's and tributer's stuff. Several parties have finished stamping and will clean up to- morrow or next day.,, A parcel treated for Pearee and party yielded 7ozs 9dwts gold. i GOLD RETURNS, i Jokeb.—A crushing from Robinson aod party's tribute produced sozs 14dwts cold.
