Orphanage Committee.
The-usual monthly meeting of the Committee was held yesterday afternoon, His Worship the Mayor presiding. The Master reported that the cost of maintenance for the past month had been £14 7s. The matter of Mr Flett fencing off the approach to the Orphanage was conBidered, and it was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the Visiting Committee. The month's accounts were "passed for'■payment,* £10' being voted for clothing. His Worship stated that during the month the Institution had been visited by the Inspector General ot' Schools, who expressed himself highly satisfied with the cleanliness and general good management of the Institution. He had broughE under Mr Habens' notice the necessity of a schoolroom, and it was hoped assistance in that direction would be forthcoming. It was announced that a subscription of £1 Is had been received from Dr M. H. Payne.
